Nawa Tahir is a freelance reporter, copy editor, and fact-checker currently based in Toronto. Her experience in journalism includes investigative reporting, features, and breaking news. She is most interested in human interest stories and making meaningful change through her reporting.

She recently graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, majoring in English with minors in Writing & Rhetoric and Women & Gender Studies. She first arrived in Toronto as an international student from Pakistan. Having dealt with visa applications and border control for years, she is interested in borders and the lives they impact through immigration policies.

Nawa is also a writer and poet, currently trying to spend more time writing. Nawa was once an avid Twitter (rip) user who often found important stories to cover and sources to interview on the social media site.

These days, she is learning to take professional photos and how to write screenplays.
